Copyright and takedown policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
We respect the rights of type designers and foundries. If your font is listed here and you want it removed, we will act on a valid notice promptly.
Who this is for
This page is for font creators, foundries and rights holders who believe a font on Free Font Universe is hosted without permission.
How to file a notice
Email contact@freefontuniverse.com with the subject line Copyright notice, and include:
- The name and page link of the font or fonts in question.
- Proof that you own or represent the rights to the font.
- Your contact details.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the rights holder, the agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
What happens next
When we receive a valid notice we remove or disable access to the font in question as quickly as we can, and we let you know once it is done. We may ask for clarification if a notice is incomplete.
Counter-notice
If you believe a font was removed in error, you can reply with a counter-notice explaining why you have the right to distribute it. Include the same contact details and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the removal was a mistake.
Repeat infringers
We take rights seriously. Fonts found to infringe are removed, and we work to prevent the same files being re-added.
