Font licensing

Free to download does not always mean free for any use. Here is how to check before you ship.

Every font in our catalog is free to download. Many fonts are free for personal use but require a license for commercial projects, so the terms matter.

Check the readme first

Before using a font commercially, open the License or readme link on the font's page. It contains the author's own terms, which always take precedence over anything on this site.

When terms are unclear

If a font has no readme or the terms are unclear, treat it as personal use only until you can confirm otherwise with the author.

Web and app use

Embedding a font on a website or in an app is a separate permission from desktop use. Look for explicit web or app licensing in the readme before adding a font to a site.
